OSAP has SARS information, marks one-year newsletter anniversary
The Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures (OSAP) has just released in-depth information about Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). SARS, the newly classified atypical pneumonia, has been identified in patients in Asia, North America and Europe.
OSAP's on-line report includes information on SARS that the dental office should know. The Web site features updates on disease transmission, methods of diagnosis, risk management in the dental environment, travel precautions and resources for additional information. Dental offices can download a sample office sign to help notify patients of the steps they should take if they present with similar symptoms. The site is updated regularly to keep the dental team on top of this emerging issue (see "Latest News on SARS"). Go to www.osap.org/issues/pages/sars/ for this free resource.
In addition, OSAP celebrates the one-year anniversary of the release of a must-have newsletter for the dental office, "Infection Control In Practice" (ICIP). ICIP takes the guesswork out of dental infection control and safety management, and strips away the complexity and confusion surrounding vital infection control and safety issues. With expert input from renowned contributors, the newsletter informs the dental team exactly what is needed to help protect the patient's health, ensure staff safety, and comply with government regulations and guidelines. Published eight times per year, each issue focuses on one relevant infection control or safety topic. Simple, easy-to-understand language is used to break down complex concepts, regulatory mandates and public health policy into practical information that will benefit any dental office. Previous issue topics included hand hygiene, sharps safety devices, staff training on infection control, disinfectants, choosing infection control products and more.
INSIDE EACH ISSUE: Compliance Corner; Glossary; Calendar; Putting It All Together; Charts & Checklists; Practice Tips; Q&A. Continuing Education credits are available with each publication.
