OSAP Releases Workbook For Expanded Infection Control Guidelines

March 23, 2004
Guide takes recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and helps the dental office put them into practice.

The Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures (OSAP) has just released a 160-page, all-inclusive workbook that walks users through the new and expanded 2003 dental infection control guidelines. As its title suggests, From Policy to Practice: OSAP's Guide to the Guidelines takes the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and helps the dental worker put them into practice.

The new CDC Guidelines raise the bar for infection control compliance in the dental office. Several states will actually adopt the CDC recommendations as policy; other states and regulatory bodies will use them as a model to update their policies. Dental healthcare workers need to understand and implement these guidelines, and the workbook can help by providing them with the necessary information in an easy-to-read format.

The workbook is a must-have for every dental worker and anyone else interested in dental infection control -- teachers, lecturers, consultants, authors, researchers, manufacturers and sales personnel. It addresses the infection control and safety responsibilities of each member of the dental team. Chapters contain practical, how-to instructions, charts and checklists, pictures and captions, answers to common questions, and guidance for making sound clinical judgments. In addition, the workbook has 10 hours of available CE credit. To view sample pages, go to: http://www.osap.org/resources/cdcwb.
