In the dentists’ words: Why their hygienists are so important

Oct. 23, 2024
Dental hygienists are the heartbeat of any dental practice. To recognize them during National Dental Hygiene Month, these dentists tell their hygienists why they matter.

Dental hygienists are essential to any dental practice. To celebrate them during National Dental Hygiene Month, we asked four Aspen Dental dentists to tell us about their rock star hygienists. Thank you for all that you do, dental hygienists!

Megan Akin, RDH

First impressions don’t get a second chance. Megan is the key to first impressions in our practice. Because a patient sees Megan before the dentist, they’re reassured by her calm and honest approach. She’s invaluable to our team and success. Her gentle demeanor and personable qualities make patients feel comfortable and secure with their dental treatment. Megan makes everyone’s job easier. She is relatable, down to earth, and she has a great sense of humor. With Megan as our hygienist, a patient’s first impression is positive and reassuring.     Dr. Clark Cressman

Brittany Adams, RDH

Brittany is an amazing hygienist and such an asset to our team here in Middlesboro. She always puts patient first and goes above and beyond to treat not only their mouth, but also the overall health of her patients. Brittany is kind and thoughtful, but she’s also brilliant. She’s always learning new things and working to increase her wealth of knowledge to benefit her patients. We are beyond grateful to have her as part of our team.     Dr. Allison Lancaster

Kailyn Allen, RDH

Kailyn is someone who’s very thorough with her treatment planning and always ready to educate her patients. She provides exceptional patient care! We’re happy to have her in our Aspen family. Thank you for being a "go getter," Kay!

Dr. Mai Awadallah

Sierra Hammond, RDH

Sierra has true passion for her role as a hygienist and she cares for her patients on a professional and personal level. She places as much emphasis on educating her patients as she does on treating their needs. Sierra displays a high degree of professionalism in the office and earns the respect of her colleagues. She is a very compassionate and empathetic person who treats others with respect, and like they are part of her own family. Dr. John Fazio

Mariah Spurgeon, RDH

Mariah works hard every day. She’s always ready to deliver exceptional care for her patients, and she’s an amazing team player. The word “no” is not in her vocabulary. We are all grateful to have her as part of our team!
