The dental hygiene program at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., is preparing to offer free oral examinations, sealants, fluoride treatments, and health care instructions for children ages 6-13 at its annual Sealant Saturday. In conjunction with National Children’s Dental Health Month, the event will be hosted Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Cohen Dental Center on Harcum’s Bryn Mawr campus.
This is the eighth year of the free program, in which registered dental hygienists, area dentists, and Harcum dental hygiene students provide free dental hygiene services to registered children. The Sealant Saturday program is co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association.
"The students and faculty of Harcum's Dental Hygiene Program, through our curricula, teaching and practice, are committed to spreading the word about good oral health to parents and children," said Dental Hygiene Program Director Jean Byrnes-Ziegler. "Sealant Saturday is an important way for us to help the community and advance the experiential learning of Harcum students."
