BATON ROUGE To help it chart its own course to recovery from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Louisiana Dental Association (LDA) is expanding its 2006 Annual Session.

The three-day C.E. event is set for March 23-25, 2006, at the Holiday Inn Select, in Baton Rouge, La.

Several notable C.E. speakers drastically reduced their fees as an opportunity to contribute to the LDA recovery effort. Speakers include Drs. Peter Dawson, Jon Suzuki, Mark Hyman, Del Webb and Charles Blair, and topics range from cosmetic dentistry to insurance issues of vital interest to all members of the dental team. This will be Dr. Dawson's only scheduled presentation in 2006 outside of the Dawson Center.

LDA Executive Director Ward Blackwell underscores the strength of the C.E. lineup. Further, he expresses deep gratitude to all who have generously supported hurricane relief, which includes this Annual Session.

"While optimism for the future is strong, the bottom-line is that perhaps 30-40 percent of LDA members may receive dues waivers for 2006, thus motivating LDA to expand its Annual Session as the lynchpin of its self-help recovery initiative," added Blackwell.

The LDA is looking forward to strong participation in the Session's trade show as many area dentists need to rebuild and re-equip their practices and this is expected to be the only major dental meeting in Louisiana in 2006.
