University testing performed at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine confirms that the compressive and diametral tensile strength of Activa bioactive restorative is comparable to that of Filtek Supreme Ultra. These results were presented at the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) meeting. Activa is the first bioactive restorative that combines the benefits of glass ionomers and composites in a material that is bioactive, esthetic, and durable. Activa releases and recharges significant calcium, phosphate, and fluoride, and it stimulates apatite formation at the interface between the material and the tooth, sealing margins against microleakage and failure. The strength of Activa is reinforced with a rubberized resin molecule that absorbs stress and resists chipping and fracture. Manufactured by Pulpdent Corporation in Watertown, Massachusetts, Activa contains no Bisphenol A (BPA), Bis-GMA, or BPA derivatives.
Activa is a two-part, light-cure, and self-cure material, packaged in 5-mL, double-barrel, automix syringes. It is available in A1, A2, A3, and A3.5, and the base/liner is dentin shade.
