Hu-Friedy has announced the launch of its Ortho Step Pliers, which allow clinicians to easily create z-bends in arch wire, advancing patients’ treatment.
Step pliers, also called detailing pliers or bayonet bending pliers, are best used extraorally on wire up to .022 in by 0.25 in (.53 mm by .64 mm). The pliers’ double-sided offset beaks create a right-hand or left-hand step-up or step-down in wire at .5-mm, .75-mm, or 1-mm intervals.
Z-bends created by step pliers can help a clinician to extrude or intrude a specific tooth or teeth. The bend can also change a tooth’s inclination and/or rotation.
“All of our orthodontic products are engineered to provide unrivaled clinical outcomes. The Step Pliers are the latest example of this and highlight Hu-Friedy’s commitment to developing instruments that help clinicians perform at their best and provide the highest level of care to their patients,” said Ken Serota, president of Hu-Friedy.
Hu-Friedy Step Pliers are crafted with Immunity Steel alloy, a surgical-grade stainless steel, to ensure strength and corrosion resistance for more effective treatment.
