DENTSPLY announced on Friday that sales of its SureFil SDR flow reached 25 million applications since 2009.
In a press release, the company credited its success to SureFil SDR flow's unique characteristics: self-leveling for excellent cavity adaptation; support for bulk-filling technique in increments of up to 4 mm; and extremely low polymerization stress.
DENTSPLY also named prospective clinical studies that found positive results. These include clinical studies conducted by Dr. John Burgess and Dr. Carlos Munoz of Alabama, USA, and Prof. J.Van Dijken and Prof. U.Pallesen of Universities of Umea, Sweden and Copenhague, Denmark. The studies found no secondary caries, no postoperative sensitivities and no failures attributable to SureFil SDR flow.
The company quoted Professor Roland Frankenberger of the University of Marburg, Germany, as saying SureFil SDR flow is the “gold standard of the bulk-filling technique."
Product notes from the manufacturer: "This flowable composite is suitable for bulk application in increments of up to 4 millimeters at a time. The viscoelastic behavior of special monomers ensures low-stress curing, resulting in the lowest polymerization stress of all currently available flowable composites – generating up to 60 percent less stress than competitor flowable composite products! The self-leveling SureFil SDR flow adapts perfectly to the cavity margins, even with unfavorable cavity geometries and high C-factors. DENTSPLY Caulk recommends the use of SureFil SDR flow in combination with PalodentPlus sectional matrix system, Prime&Bond elect Universal Adhesive, TPH Spectra Universal Composite and Enhance Finishers for a predictable and reliable Class II Total Practice Solution.
