Speak For Yourself to Grow Your Dental Business: Leading with gravitas
True or false? If you do quality dentistry, that makes you a great dentist.
The answer is … false.
You need to do quality dentistry and be an effective leader of your team and your patients. Being a great leader creates a cohesive team that will help attract a phenomenal patient base, so that you can continue to deliver quality dentistry.
As the current president of the National Speakers Association North Texas Chapter, I attended a leadership session at our national convention last month. I want to give a huge thank you to Liz Weber, CMC, CSP, who shared these wise tips to lead with gravitas.
L – E – A – D
Learn to lead differently. Your way is not the only way!
Learn new things.
Laugh! If you’re not laughing during your morning huddles and throughout the day, something is screwed up.
Engage your team.
Engage your advisory group; that is your accountant, financial planner, and computer host.
Engage your patients before, during, and after their appointments.
Attend to your timeline and plan.
Attend to your agenda at meetings, focusing on only one to two major issues at a time.
Develop others and their skills. As dentists, you tend to be “solopreneurs.”
Do what’s right for your patients, not what might feel right to you.
Good luck as you continue to lead with gravitas.
