Thanks to the combined contributions of 3M ESPE and the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA), one lucky dental assisting student is heading to this year’s American Dental Association convention in San Francisco. The ADA's annual session is held in conjunction with the ADAA.
Katie Harstine of Glendora, Calif., has served as president of the ADAA student chapter at Citrus College in Glendora where she organized monthly meetings, helped promote fundraising, and promoted student involvement while studying dental assisting. She recently received her certificate of completion in dental assisting and is working as a Registered Dental Assistant in the practice of Dr. Mark A. Wong of Covina, Calif.
As nominee for the position of national student trustee, Harstine was selected by the ADAA to benefit from a grant in memory of 2001 ADAA President Anna Nelson through attendance and participation at the forthcoming conventions of ADA and ADAA in San Francisco in October. The cost of travel expenses will be funded in their entirety by 3M ESPE with ADAA providing registration coverage.
3M ESPE has supported dental assisting through continued support of the ADAA Foundation. The Foundation is devoted to education and research enhancing the dental assisting profession.
