Massad earns honors

Dr. Joseph Massad, a practicing Tulsa dentist has been honored with three bronze Telly Awards for outstanding achievement in video production for three presentations depicting applications of three dental products.
TULSA, Oklahoma--In an announcement from New York, Dr. Joseph Massad--a practicing Tulsa dentist, lecturer, and entrepreneur--has been honored with three bronze Telly Awards for outstanding achievement in video production for three presentations depicting applications of three dental products. Dr. Massad’s three Bronze Telly Awards in 2011 are for use of animation in the video productions “Oral-B Smart Series 5000,” “Massad Jaw Recorder,” and “Massad Edentulous Impression Tray.” Dr. Massad served as producer-director for all three videos. “Oral-B Smart Series 5000,” a single DVD, illustrates the use of a smart toothbrush for the implant overdenture patient and a protocol for effective oral hygiene. “Massad Jaw Recorder,” a single DVD presentation that demonstrates the use of a new device that captures of record of the physiological rest position (or resting position), records a repeatable centric relation record, and makes adjustments to the occlusal vertical dimension. “Massad Edentulous Impression Tray,” also a single DVD, presents the use of a customizable impression tray in a single appointment and shows each step required to take a definitive impression on the edentulous patient. Inaugurated in 1979, the Telly Awards comprise the premier distinction honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected production companies, advertising agencies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition, and receives more than 11,000 entries annually from all 50 U.S. states and many foreign countries. Judges representing advertising agencies, TV stations, production houses, ad corporate video departments from across the United States assess each entry on a 10-point scale. The Telly Award is given based on the merit of each entry, which competes against a high standard of excellence. Bronze Telly Award statuette winners have an average score of 7.0 to 8.9 points and are honored for outstanding achievement. Silver Telly Award statuettes are awarded to entries scoring 9.0 points or higher.

In 2010, Dr. Massad received two Silver Telly Awards and a Bronze Telly Award for “Emergency Medicine in Dentistry.” Serving as producer for this production, Dr. Massad was honored with the Silver Telly Awards for the categories of Education for Academic Use and of Use of Graphics; the Bronze Telly award was bestowed for outstanding achievement in videography/cinematography. “Emergency Medicine in Dentistry” is a two-DVD set that provides interactive in-office training, reviews dental emergency procedures, and presents updated protocols for the dentist and dental team to follow for a safer practice. Dr. Joseph Massad graduated from Loyola University of Chicago, serves as an adjunct professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, and as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry in San Antonio, Texas. He is a Fellow in the American and International College of Dentists and is a Fellow and Regent of the International Association of Dental Facial Esthetics. Dr. Massad has delivered more than 800 lectures globally.
